The declaration is made by the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Malam Bala Salisu-Zango, in a statement made available to newsmen on Saturday in Katsina.
"Large religious and social public gatherings are prohibited, with the exception of required prayers," he declared.
The commissioner, however, noted in the case of such meetings during hours of the day, authorization must be acquired.
"Permission from the Police Divisional Officer within the local government area where the gathering will take place must be requested when it becomes essential to hold the gathering.
"Public safety and interest are best served by this announcement," he declared.
The commissioner said that the suspension took immediate effect.
Salisu-Zango, therefore, enjoined the people to strictly comply with the directions, as violators would face the full wrath of the law
