UNICEF and the Kwara State administration collaborate to end open defecation.
The Kwara State Government, represented by the Commissioner for Water Resources, Hon. Usman Yunusa Lade, has affirmed its dedication to partnering with the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) to eliminate open defecation in the state. During a meeting with UNICEF Wash Specialist, Mrs. 


Theressa Pammer, potential avenues of support were discussed. The state government, led by Hon. Lade, has allocated 200 million naira to install toilets and wash facilities in health, education institutions, and marketplaces. 


The commissioner emphasized the importance of the recently launched campaign against open defecation and urged collaboration from individuals, organizations, and non-governmental bodies to achieve this public health goal. 


Mrs. Pammer commended Kwara State's progress in increasing clean water access and stressed the need for sustained efforts to achieve 100% drinkable water supply. She highlighted the crucial role of hygiene and expressed UNICEF's commitment to supporting Kwara State in these initiatives. 


The Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Christiana Omolola Asonibare, expressed gratitude for UNICEF’s commitment and called for robust collaboration to enhance water accessibility and sanitation in Kwara State.
