Umahi congratulates Ododo on winning the election and reveals the FG's plan to build and renovate Federal highways in Kogi.The president has specifically given the Hon. Minister of Works, Engr. Dave Umahi, permission to start federal road building and rehabilitation in Kogi State.


He also described the methods being investigated to move the works along quickly.


Umahi was speaking when His Excellency Yahaya Bello, CON, the governor of Kogi State, and Ahmed Usman Ododo, the governor-elect, paid him a visit at his Mabushi, Abuja, office.


Throughout the visit, Governor Bello thanked Senator Umahi for his assistance and unity, which helped the governor-elect win the Kogi State governorship on November 11.


Governor Bello expressed optimism that Ododo will continue to significantly improve Kogi State's infrastructure upon his inauguration on January 27, 2024, boosting the state's and the All Progressives Congress's sense of pride.


Senator Umahi responded by congratulating the newly elected governor and highlighting how the people of Kogi State wanted continuity and unity, which was reflected in his victory. He expressed confidence that Ododo will expand on Governor Bello's accomplishments in road construction, education, health infrastructure, and other important sectors.


In order to ensure that the governor-elect keeps his campaign pledges, he asked him to preserve the confidence that the party and the public had placed in him.


Additionally, he praised Governor Bello for his steadfast backing of the ruling party's expansion on both the state and federal levels, calling Governor Bello's dedication to the APC-led Federal Government's success "unprecedented."


While praising Governor Bello's efforts to give his state's citizens the benefits of democracy, he pointed out that his work would be more valued once he left office.


The minister disclosed that current initiatives, including the rehabilitation of the Ganaja road, would be concrete-based, in keeping with the Federal Government's goal of ensuring that Nigeria has strong roads.


Previously, Ahmed Usman Ododo, the incoming governor, reaffirmed his dedication to the confidence placed in him by the people in an assurance given to Senator Umahi. He thanked the minister for his support and promised to use the Ministry of Works to further solidify the current partnership between the state and the federal government.


The minister was reassured by Ododo that his administration was prepared to implement the current administration's infrastructure master plan for Kogi.
