Two alleged gun makers are detained by the military, and weapons are found in the Plateau
Two alleged gun manufacturers have been taken into custody at Vom in the Jos South Local Government Area of the Plateau by Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), a military task group tasked with preserving peace in the region.

At a press conference in Jos on Saturday, the taskforce's media officer, Capt. James Oya, revealed that the two had discovered a gun factory where they were manufacturing new weapons.

"Two people, Yusuf Pam (43), and Michael Dung (33), were captured, and their weapons production facility was demolished.

According to preliminary findings, the accused supply firearms to clients across the nation.

Six AK-47 rifles, three skeleton AK-47 rifles, a locally manufactured pistol, eleven rifle bodies, seven bridge blocks, and four magazines were found by the troops.

Twenty-one springs, seven rifle butts, eight rifle muzzles, nine piston assemblies, five cartridge housings, a drilling machine, and a hand filing machine were among the other weapons found.

"The suspects will face legal charges as soon as the investigations are completed," Oya declared.

He continued by saying that Maj.-Gen. Abdulsalam Abubakar, the Commander of OPSH, had expressed his gratitude for the troops' commitment, bravery, and ceaseless efforts to protect people and property on the Plateau.

He declared that the group would keep up its aggressive approach against Plateau criminals.

The primary suspect, Dung, acknowledged the crime and stated in an interview with reporters that he had been involved in the illicit trade for six years.

The suspect added that the majority of his clients were from Mangu in the Plateau and claimed to have learned the skills from his late employer.

Depending on the category, Dung said he sold weapons for between N80,000 and N200,000.
