The Defense Industries Corporation of Nigeria bill is signed into law by Tinubu.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has endorsed the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON) Bill, 2023, by signing it into law. 

The bill, sponsored by Hon. Babajimi Benson (APC—Ikorodu Federal Constituency), repeals the previous DICON Act, granting DICON authority to manage subsidiaries and ordnance factories for the production, storage, and disposal of ordnance and related materials. 

Additionally, the bill establishes the Defence Industry Technology, Research, and Development Institute (DITRDI) to advance Nigeria's defense industry through comprehensive scientific and research-based technological initiatives. 

The legislation also outlines a regulatory framework for overseeing the manufacturing, distribution, storage, and disposal of defence articles in Nigeria, while promoting private capital for transparent and predictable development in the defense sector.
