The Customs Service collects N334 billion in revenue per month, up from N202 billion.
The Nigeria Customs Service has seen an amazing increase in monthly revenue collection over the last four months, going from N202 billion to N333.9 billion, according to Comptroller-General Mr. Adewale Adeniyi.

At a nationwide training on legislative compliance on Wednesday in Abuja, Adeniyi made the statement.

"The Imperatives of Legislative Compliance in Deepening Democracy and Good Governance" is the theme for the workshop.

He stated that during the first half of the year, the service brought in an average of N202 billion in revenue.

He continued, saying that over the previous four months, however, monthly revenue collection increased dramatically, rising to N333.9 billion between July and October—a 65.5% rise.

Adeniyi clarified that improvements to tariff structures and regulations brought about by Customs' collaboration with the National Assembly had produced favorable results.

According to him, the NCS has optimized revenue collection and guaranteed the availability of cash for national development initiatives.

Our early successes include a notable increase in monthly revenue collection.

"We are happy to report that, in contrast to past results, we have continuously surpassed the monthly target collection of N307 billion.

"We have been able to respond to public concerns and petitions in an effective manner thanks to the combined efforts of the NCS and the legislative branch of government," he stated.

Speaking about the difficulties the Customs Service has, Adeniyi stated that financial restraints frequently prevent it from being able to adequately enforce compliance.

He clarified that the limits can have an impact on hiring the right people, organizing training programs, and acquiring contemporary technologies needed for efficient enforcement.

He emphasized that insufficient technology and infrastructure at border crossings might make it more difficult for the Customs Service to properly monitor and control trade, which would encourage disobedience.
