Shettima in Ogun for the 2023 observance of Akesan Day

Shettima in Ogun for the 2023 observance of Akesan DayVice President Kashim Shettima is presently participating in the 37th Annual Akesan day celebration 2023 in Iperu community, located in the Ikenne Local Government Area of Ogun State.


The Iperu Development Association (IDA) is responsible for organizing the event, according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN). Upon his arrival, the vice president was welcomed by Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun, along with the governors of Kwara and Kogi states, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, and various other federal and state government officials.


Akesan, the legendary founder of Iperu, an ancient town in Ogun, Southwest Nigeria, is the focal point of the celebration. 


According to oral history, Akesan, a daughter of an Alaafin, migrated from Ile Ife with her husband Ajagbe and settled in Iperu during the 13th or 14th century.
