This came after Sen. Bilbis Ikra (APC-Zamfara), the chairman of the Committee on Communication, presented and adopted a report of the committee before the Committee of the Whole on Thursday.
As she presented the report, Ikra pleaded with the Senate to take President Bola Tinubu's request for Maida's confirmation as the NCC Chairman's nomination into consideration.
He stated that the request complied with the Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC) Establishment Act, 2003, Section 8 (1).
He said that Maida had been vetted by the committee and that he had received all security clearances, the necessary training, work experience, competency, and regulatory ability to support the NCC's continued success.
For this reason, he implored the Senate to confirm the appointment.
Following that, the Senate approved Aminu Maida's appointment to the position of Executive Vice Chairman of the NCC.
