Following the Seychelles, The Gambia, and Benin, Rwanda is currently one of the African nations that allows visa-free entrance to all nationals of the continent.
"Let there be no misunderstanding. President Kagame was mentioned on the BBC News Africa X Twitter on Thursday. "Any African can get on a plane to Rwanda whenever they wish and will not pay a thing to enter our country," the president said.
He continued by saying that the action was taken to capitalize on the expanding middle class on the continent, which is driving the continent's tourism industry.
In an effort to increase tourism, Rwanda has partnered with soccer teams such as Arsenal and Bayern Munich to market the nation as a travel destination.
Additionally, a number of African nations—most notably, Ghana and South Africa, as well as Uganda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo—have bilateral agreements in place that allow citizens to travel without a visa.
President William Ruto of Kenya said this week that, by the end of the year, all travelers from Africa will not need a visa to enter his nation.
According to a BBC story, President Ruto made these remarks at an international conference in Congo Brazzaville.
"We all become net losers when people, businesspeople, and entrepreneurs are unable to travel," Ruto stated.
To thunderous applause from the conference attendees, he declared, "Let me say this: As Kenya, by the end of this year, no African will be required to have a visa to come to Kenya."
"Our children from this continent shouldn't be imprisoned within borders, either in Europe or Africa."
