Ogun police deny killing a suspected cultist by torture.
The police in Ogun state have refuted allegations of torturing a suspected cultist who died in their custody.

The police spokesperson, SP Omolola Odutola, clarified in a statement that the suspect's death in the police cell was not a result of torture, emphasizing that torture goes against their protocols and principles.

The arrested individual was charged for cult-related activities and taken to a special court, but the court did not sit, and he was returned to police headquarters.

The suspect exhibited erratic behavior in the cell, prompting medical attention.

Despite efforts, he passed away, and the police have ordered an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
