NNPP refutes conversations with other parties for a merger. In a statement released on Thursday in Lagos, the New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP) stated that it is not in talks with any political party about merging.

Alhaji AbdulRazaq AbdulSalam, the party's national publicity secretary, made a statement that said as much.

Since NNPP is an independent political organization, we will never compromise our regard for any political party and will never join forces with any to oppose another.

"We embrace diversity and take a nonpartisan stance inside our party.

It is important to remember that people discussing a merger have been fired from NNPP, and the organization is currently dealing with internal issues that are being resolved by the courts.

The NNPP spokesperson stated, "These internal matters take precedence until proven otherwise."

He claims that the NNPP Board of Trustees (BOT) has decided to dissolve the National Working Committee (NWC), which is led by Abba Kawu, and to expel Sen. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso from the party.

AbdulSalam stated, "While we take note of the merger proposal, our party's position is clear: we are not interested in the merger offer at this time."

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the conflict inside the NNPP began on August 24 when the Kwankwaso-aligned NWC of the party announced the suspension of Dr. Agbo Major, the national publicity secretary, and Dr. Boniface Aniebonam, the founder of the party.

The party's 2023 presidential candidate, Kwankwaso, was subsequently announced to have been expelled by the National Executive Committee of the party due to his purported unwillingness to appear before the disciplinary committee.

The party's internal conflict has persisted.
