Nigerian customs detains a traveller traveling to Brazil with a fictitious $10,000 US at the Lagos airport.
Ifeanacho Marcellinus Ugbor, a passenger traveling to Brazil, was detained by the Nigeria Customs Service at Murtala Muhammed International Airport Command while in possession of a forged $10,000 US document.


On Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at the Command, Comptroller Charles Orbih, the Customs Area Controller, disclosed this information to reporters.


Orbih reports that The CAC revealed the 41-year-old Nigerian's itinerary, which included a trip to Brazil on Friday, November 10, 2023.


"The passenger was found to be carrying $10,000 in counterfeit currency during the course of the examination of his consignment, which is supposed to be the duties and responsibilities of our officers, in accordance with section (66) of the Nigeria Customs Service Act 2023. He was apprehended as a result."


The Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) officers have received the suspect, the counterfeit money, and other relevant materials so that the proper actions can be taken.


Orbih further mentioned that the command has benefited from strong and complimentary ties with sibling agencies at the airport.
