The University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) has implemented paternity leave for its male staff, as part of an effort to improve working conditions and attract and retain talent.
According to the recent amendment to the university's Conditions of Service, male staff members whose spouses give birth are now eligible for 14 working days of paternity leave.
The announcement was made by the university's registrar, Mansur Alfanla, who emphasized that this initiative aims to enhance the well-being of male staff and create a more family-friendly work environment.
Additionally, male officers adopting a child under four months old will also be entitled to 14 working days of paternity leave.
