Lagos detains cart pushers and street vendors in several locations.On Thursday, the Lagos State Government enforced laws against handcart pushers and street vendors in several parts of the state.


This was confirmed in a statement by Tokunbo Wahab, the Lagos State Commissioner of Environment and Water Resources. Some of the people who were detained are currently being questioned and may face legal action.


"In compliance with my directive, Special Squad Operatives of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC)/kick Against Indiscipline (KAI) executed enforcement measures against street vendors and pushcart vendors who impeded traffic and caused environmental disturbances today," Wahab penned.


He said that Iyana Ipaja, Oshodi, Obanibasiri, Airport Road, and 7&8 were the locations of the arrests.


Okota, Oke Afa, Jakande Gate, Ijegun Road, Ikotun, Igando, and the Egbeda regions were among the other locations impacted.


A few of the environmental defaulters were detained during this procedure and brought to the LAGESC/KAI headquarters in Oshodi for questioning and legal proceedings.


The Commissioner maintains that breaking the law is not tolerated in Lagos State.
