INEC officials held captive in Brass LG: Bayelsa GuberOn Sunday, the Independent National Electoral Commission demanded that security services help free its employees who were being held captive in Brass Local Government Area, Bayelsa State.


The development, according to the commission, is harmful to legitimate elections.


Earlier, the All Progressives Congress (APC) objected to what it called an attempt to shift the Brass Local Government Area results collation to the capital of Bayelsa State, Yenogoa.


The Peoples Democratic Party, or PDP, was accused by the party of manipulating the voting results through deliberate attempts.


The Commission is actively monitoring the situation in Brass LGA of Bayelsa State where our officials are being taken captive, according to a brief statement released by INEC via its X handle.


"This undermines the legitimacy of elections. We demand that the security services help to free them right now.


The commission has released results for municipal government in roughly three categories. At 3 p.m., the results collation for the final five local government districts is anticipated to begin again.
