On Wednesday, November 8, 2023, the House of Representatives Committee on Army Chairman, Honorable Abdullahi Mamudu, made the promise while leading Committee members on their first familiarization tour to Army Headquarters in Abuja.
Mamudu Abdullahi expressed gratitude for the Nigerian Army's efforts to contain the nation's nascent security issues.
After being briefed on the operational and administrative activities of the Nigerian Army, the MPs acknowledged that the Service faces formidable obstacles and promised to furnish the necessary assistance to augment its capacities.
Speaking during the visit, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), stated that the Nigerian Army (NA) is prepared to work with the nation's legislative branch to fulfill its constitutional responsibilities and to continue the current operational efforts to eradicate insecurity in the nation.
The COAS expressed gratitude to the Committee for its supportive attitude toward the NA, emphasizing that this has helped the NA in conducting operations, training, and other activities.
Gen. Lagbaja stated that the NA is happy with the committee's input and that it has helped define the organization's continuing activities.
While acknowledging the numerous security difficulties the country currently faces, the COAS expressed confidence in the Nigerian Army's will to keep expanding its frontier of peace and stability throughout the nation by fearlessly taking on new security threats in the geographical zones.
