Dr. James Bawa, the Executive Secretary of IDM, stated that this outcome supports the earlier ruling of the governorship tribunal in favor of Governor Alia and his deputy, Dr. Sam Ode.
The appeal, filed by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate Titus Uba challenging Alia's election, was unanimously dismissed by the court, which found against Uba and PDP on all three issues presented for determination.
Bawa emphasized that the ruling reflects the confidence the people of Benue have in Governor Alia and should be respected by all. He commended the judiciary for its diligence and thorough examination of the issues, highlighting the court's resilience against attempts at inducement.
Bawa urged the opposition to support Governor Alia, emphasizing that it is time for concerted efforts and action, as the governor has demonstrated his capacity and commitment.
