“Your commitment to reaching out to the less privileged irrespective of denominational differences is a true reflection of Christian love worthy of emulation.
“Your contribution to the well being of the society through your humanitarian services is noted and commended by Lagos State government,” he said.
The outgoing Chairman, Hezekiah Okonkwo, said FOHI is a Christian organisation founded by three denominations; Anglican, Methodist and African Churches to propagate the gospel of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, to the various churches and the needy.
He added that the body started in 1968 with one chapter in Ibadan, but has grown to 141 chapters in Nigeria with two chapters in the United States of America (USA).
Okonkwo, whose two-year tenure commenced as the Chairman of FOHI in 2021, counted his achievements to include adding six chapters to make it the current 141, contributed a lot to the massive hostel project of about 164 self-contained rooms in Ibadan, unified the society and leaving about N10m in the coffers of the administration for the in-coming chairman among other achievements.
The deputy chairman, who is the incoming chairman, Bro. Debo Atunwa, promised to uphold the constitution of the society. Atunwa, who pledged to continue from where his predecessor stopped, said he would focus on development of human capital, evangelism, education and youths development
