Four NSCDC agents in Rivers are thought to have died.
After gunmen in the Bakana town of Rivers, alleged to be sea pirates, ambushed four officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), it is feared that they are dead.

The event occurred in the early hours of Friday, a community member who spoke to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Port Harcourt on Saturday said on condition of anonymity.

According to the local, sea pirates shot and killed the officers near the Bakana River in the Degema Local Government Area.

The eyewitness continued, "Two of the victims who are Muslims have already been buried according to Islamic rites."

In response, DSC Olufemi Ayodele, the NSCDC's Rivers spokesperson, said the command would release a statement once additional information became available. He did neither confirm or deny the killing.
