FG provides rice technology to 5,000 women farmers.
The federal government, in collaboration with Green Agriculture West Africa Limited (GAWAL), a subsidiary of the Chinese General Construction Company (CGC), is conducting training for 5,000 women across the country in modern rice technology and various farming practices.

The initiative aims to address poverty through food sufficiency and economic empowerment at the grassroots level.

The Minister of Women Affairs, Barrister Uju Kennedy-Ohaneye, emphasized the bottom-top approach in poverty intervention, with women receiving high-yield rice varieties and necessary equipment for planting.

The project intends to boost food production, create jobs, and engage women in various economic activities, contributing to poverty reduction and improved security.

The government is also introducing innovations in animal farming, focusing on high-yield breed for quicker cow rearing.

The training covers the latest cultivation technology, from land preparation to seed breeding, fertilizer application, and other aspects of agriculture.

The minister highlighted the importance of community engagement and shared progress updates through a dedicated portal for the program.
