Edo deputy governor Shaibu makes his candidacy for Edo governor in 2024.

Edo State Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu, has officially announced his candidacy for the 2024 governorship election in the state. 

Running on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Shaibu declared his intentions in a pre-recorded speech and later launched his campaign office in Benin City with party supporters present. 

Emphasizing his commitment to the development and growth of the state, Shaibu expressed determination to make Edo great again. 

The deputy governor, who has held the position since 2016, has resolved to vie for the governorship despite previous differences with Governor Obaseki. 

Edo is among the states with off-cycle governorship polls due to legal issues.
