Despite obstacles, Christian pilgrimage is thriving, according to NCPC head
The Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission (NCPC) Executive Secretary, Rev. Yakubu Pam, stated that despite challenges, Christian pilgrimage had prospered under his direction.

Pam said this in his office at the NCPC headquarters in Abuja, while hosting delegations from the Public Complaints Commission.

In a statement dated Saturday, the NCPC head's administration was stated to have encountered difficulties since taking office in 2020. The statement was signed by Mr. Celestine Toruka, Deputy Director/Head of Media and Public Relations. He claimed that in addition to other difficulties that were both internal and external, this occurred during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.

He claimed that despite all the difficulties, his administration had been in the saddle for more than three years and had effectively carried out six pilgrimage operations.

The head of NCPC thanked his guests for their encouragement and appreciation despite his meager efforts on the commission.

The Public Complaints Commission (PCC) was established in response to the decadence, ineptitude, and bureaucratic corruption that typified the Nigerian public sector in the 1970s, according to Mr. Abimbola Ayo-Yusuf, Chief Commissioner of the PCC.

Ayo-Yusuf continued, stating that the commission was charged by its statutory requirements with stopping and resolving any unholy activities that would obstruct good governance.

"This demonstrates how much the government has improved service delivery in the public sector since the Public Complaints Commission was established," he said.

In keeping with the commission's advocacy to seek collaboration and support from Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), he revealed that the purpose of the visit was to seek collaboration and cooperation with the NCPC to ensure the best service delivery and transparency in conducting government business.

He noted that this was being done in order to carry out its purpose, which is to guarantee good governance and reduce the flood of complaints from the general public.

"I have been following with keen interest all your activities since you assumed office which have indicated your true and purposeful leadership," the commissioner said, praising the executive secretary.

"Only your recurring national peace advocacy tour serves as evidence that you are a man of peace, a builder of bridges, and a ray of hope for the country as a whole, not just for the Christian community."

He brought up a few grievances pertaining to NCPC operations, particularly those involving delays in pilgrim transportation and the kidnapping of Nigerians while they were on pilgrimage.

"These developments are truly becoming worrisome, and all hands need to be on deck to curb them," he said.He said that the complaints commission's doors were still wide open for collaboration in the future, with the intention that the partnership would be fruitful and advantageous for both organizations.
