Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), has reaffirmed the determination of Nigerian Army forces to resolutely address security issues encountered in certain regions of Benue and neighboring states.
During a courtesy visit to the governor, Reverend Father Hyacinth Alia, on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at the Benue State Government House, the COAS provided the assurance.
General Lagbaja expressed gratitude to the state's people, government, and governor for their support of the troops stationed there as well as for the friendly ties that still exist between the state and the Nigerian Army.
During the visit, Benue State Governor Dr. Hyacinth Alia gave a speech in which she expressed gratitude for the sacrifices made by Nigerian Army soldiers to keep Benue State peaceful. He pledged the ongoing support of his administration to improve the operational effectiveness of the armed forces in defending citizen lives and property.
Another development was the COAS's working visit to the Nigerian Army's 4 Special Forces Command in Doma, Nasarawa State.
The Army Chief praised the soldiers in Doma for their tenacity and selflessness in serving the country. He asked the soldiers to carry out their official responsibilities with the utmost professionalism.
During his visit of the Nigerian Army Barracks Doma, the COAS gave troops assurances about the efforts being made by the Federal Government and the Army High Command to enhance the infrastructure and offer combat enablers so that soldiers may fulfill their duties to the best of their abilities.
General Lagbaja urged the soldiers to uphold discipline and give their all while serving their country.
