Bayelsa: Voting in Okpoama and Brass LGA has not yet begun despite accreditation

Accreditation and voting are yet to occur in Okpoama, Brass Local Area as at 8:30am in the ongoing governorship election in Bayelsa.

Sorting was still taking on as of 8:30 a.m. in Ward 4 Okpoama, the Registration Area Center, in preparation for the distribution of election materials to the ward's 17 voting places.

Chief Timipre Sylva, the candidate for the All Progressives Congress (APC), is a native of Okpoama.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the area remained quiet, with security forces, party representatives and INEC Adhoc staff on ground awaiting the release of election materials.

People were waiting patiently for the arrival of election materials so that voting at the polling places could begin, and security personnel were visible throughout the area while businesses and other activity continued.
