In Rugar Kusa Community, Musawa Local Government Area, Katsina State, bandits stormed the Maulud Celebration Ground, killing at least 14 people, most of them children, and wounding 19.

At least 20 residents were kidnapped by the thugs during the over-an-hour-long incident, which seemed to be retaliation, and taken to an unidentified location.

Witnesses stated that the robbers scared the locals by firing sophisticated guns as soon as they arrived at the celebration location on Sunday.

Gidan Malamai had two victims, Yar Unguwa of the Musawa and Matazu LGAs had six, and the Rugar Kusa Community had six.

Both the Federal Teaching Hospital in Katsina and Musawa General Hospital are treating the injured.

Abdulaziz Ibrahim, one of the eyewitnesses, informed reporters that the bandits broke into the party, robbing 60 children of their joy. The thugs then proceeded to go from home to house, kidnapping more innocent individuals, primarily women.

"As soon as I suddenly answered one of the criminals who had called my name as he crossed the Maulud venue, I heard twin gunshots coming from separate places. I toppled out of my chair in a hurry and crawled over to the backyard.

Following their encirclement of the celebration site, the bandits opened fire on the attendees, leaving numerous people injured and numerous others kidnapped. Our pupils' bodies were lying down in a pool of blood when they finally departed the scene.

"The hoodlums fled into the neighboring woodland, which acts as their hideouts, before the police and other security personnel could respond to our distress call for reinforcement.

He said, "We are glad the governor visited us this morning on a compassionate visit and gave us his word that banditry in Katsina State has ended."

However, because they believed that security had begun to improve in the state, the citizens made a plea to the state administration and other security agencies to step up the fight against bandits and their allies.

When called, police spokesman Abubakar Aliyu verified the event and said that eighteen individuals were injured by gunshots and were taken to General Hospital Musawa for emergency care. Seven persons had been shot dead.

In addition, Aliyu mentioned that the doctor had declared two of the injured patients to be dead while they were receiving care, and that the inquiry is still proceeding with the goal of apprehending those responsible for the heinous deed.
