At Iyalode's funeral, Ogun will work with the family
The government of Ogun State has committed to working with the family of late Iyalode of Yorubaland, Alaba Lawson, to provide a dignified funeral for the well-known educator and businessman who passed away on Saturday, October 28, 2023.


This was disclosed in a statement by the deceased's media advisor, Dimeji Kayode-Adedeji, who also mentioned that the promise was provided by Governor Dapo Abiodun during a visit to the late Iyalode's children at their home on Quarry Road in Abeokuta.


In light of the deceased's extraordinary services to society, Kayode-Adedeji disclosed that the Governor had pledged to form a committee that would communicate with the family in order to arrange the funeral in due course.


"We are setting up a state committee to interface with the family so that we can begin to plan the final rights to give Mama a very befitting passing," the governor was reported as saying by him.


"We'll be here for you during this extremely difficult time," As reported, Governor Abiodun stated


The statement claims that the governor made the observation that the late Iyalode was many things to many people. Throughout her life, she was a highly principled and hardworking woman who knew when to call a spade a spade.


"Lawson was a well-known philanthropist who passionately and selflessly fought for women's rights," said Abiodun. "Her legacy will continue to remain as a reference point."


The funeral will take place on December 8, 2023, and the family had previously stated on Sunday that the events would take place between December 1 and December 8.


In a statement released on Sunday, the Media Adviser stated that the notification of the burial came after the family met with committees established to refine the itinerary.


Recall that Dimeji Kayode-Adedeji (Head Media), Tayo Akintayo, Sesan Bankole, Akin Jiboku, and other media members comprise the Central Planning Committee, which is led by Sanya Abiola. Olalekan Jiboku will oversee security, Ayo Olusanya will oversee ceremonial and entertainment, while Tunji Akintayo will oversee protocol and logistics.


Other members of the Central Committee include Akinola Lawson, Babalola Lawson, Oreoluwa Obey-Fabiyi, and Taiwo Jiboku, according to the family meeting that Chief Ebenezer Obe-Fabiyi convened.
