Rumors that Samuel Anyanwu, the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the November 11 Imo election, has resigned in favor of Hope Uzondinma, the candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress, have been refuted.According to a widely shared video on social media, the PDP candidate has urged his followers to vote for Uzodinma, who is running for reelection.
"We firmly declare that this information is completely untrue. The video was clearly extensively edited with audio that was altered to deceive the public, as revealed by a close inspection, Anyanwu's spokesperson Dumebi Ifeanyichukwu stated in a statement on Friday.
He attributed the "false" video's dissemination to "agents of the outgoing Uzodinma administration."
Because of the overwhelming support for Senator Anyanwu's candidacy for governor and the federal government's pledge to ensure free and fair elections in Imo, he claimed that by using disinformation, there "is incontrovertible proof of the palpable fear that has engulfed their camp."
