Abuja Central Lions intend to build a N20 million medical lab, an eye hospital, and other facilities in FCT areas.
The Lions Club International, located in District 404-A2, Abuja Central, Nigeria, has announced that it will raise N20,400,000 to fund humanitarian projects in various communities around the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The projects include the Pimary Healthcare Center in Lugbe and a medical laboratory for the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC).

Hon. Oscar Ehirim, the President of Abuja Central Lions, revealed this information following his inauguration as the club's ninth president. He estimated that the laboratory would cost N15,000,000, and the administration decided to donate 100 bags of cement for the ongoing N500,000 construction of the Lions Eye Care Hospital in Abuja.

Ehirim claims that the club will also spend more than N2,000,000 on a youth empowerment program and seminar for recent graduates and jobless individuals, as well as a corneal transplant for five visually challenged people.

The President went on to say that his administration is prepared to provide free eye exams, provide 200 visually impaired people with eye spectacles, and administer medications and do free diabetes screenings for N900,000.

He announced that the club he oversees will host educational events on the medical strategy for reducing the incidence of pediatric cancer and provide food and supplies to an internally displaced persons (IDP) camp.

"We will unite to provide humanitarian services to the underprivileged and our local community. I will inspire us to be service-minded, without any expectation of reward, but to serve with the heart of great Lions that we are."

Therefore, Ehirim said, "We beg your help to contribute as much as you can to these projects, and the Almighty will reward you for these kind acts towards supporting the needy."

The outgoing president, Lion Joy Peace Okoh, stated in her farewell speech that her administration was able to provide humanitarian relief to the underprivileged in society. She went on to say that the projects were carried out in accordance with the needs assessments that the community had completed.
