According to Bright Edafe, the spokesperson of the Delta State Police Command, it is not within the jurisdiction of any police officer to apprehend someone solely based on their choice to wear dreadlocks, bump shots, or for females, without wearing a bra within the state.

In a video uploaded on his X platform, Edafe made the following statement on Tuesday.

As to Edafe's assertion, individuals who are apprehended in relation to the aforementioned matter should firmly assert their preference to be sent to the police station.

There have been reports of instances where individuals from the general public, specifically people in Delta State, have encountered instances of harassment perpetrated by various actors, including vigilante groups, anti-cult organizations, and certain uncooperative members of the police force.

I would want to emphasize that with regards to the matter of dress code, there is no violation associated with unsuitable attire such as boys sporting dreadlocks, wearing earrings, girls donning bump shots or small skirts, or girls choosing not to wear a bra. The circular in question has been discredited by the state administration, thereby ensuring that individuals will not be subjected to harassment by law enforcement officers, vigilante groups, anti-cult organizations, or any other parties.

In the event that they assert that it constitutes an offense, it is advisable to assert your desire for the matter to be escalated to the local police station. I would like to emphasize that the action in question does not constitute an offense.

The representative also addressed the matter about vehicles with tinted windows.

Regarding the matter of automobiles with factory-fitted tinted windows, the Commissioner of Police has issued a directive permitting their usage. One may utilize it temporarily until law enforcement authorities revoke the suspension on the permit for tinted windows.

Nevertheless, individuals who own artificially tinted windows may still be permitted to use their tinted vehicles if they possessed a valid tinted permit prior to its suspension. However, if you do not possess the item, please remove it.

There have been no specific instructions given to law enforcement officers to apprehend individuals solely based on the presence of tinted windows. However, it is advisable for those who possess vehicles with artificially tinted windows to remove the tint in order to prevent potential instances of social discomfort or humiliation.
