Yobe LG chairperson destroys 39 homes for selling alcohol and engaging in illicit dancing.

140 rooms in 39 homes in Yobe State's Fika Local Government Area were demolished for selling alcohol and participating in illegal dancing in Ngalda village.

The 92 suspects who were found in the homes in August 2023 were prosecuted after which the 92-year-old Hajiya Halima Kyari Joda, the chairperson of Fika LGA, oversaw the demolition.

On Monday, October 2, 2023, the LG CEO's spokesman, Abubakar Ayuba Idris, acknowledged the development.

Remember that on August 1st, under the direction of the council chairman, a joint operation involving the NSCDC, JTF, DSS, NPF, Hisbah, and vigilantes seized and destroyed alcohol containers and outlawed Gala centers in Ngalda.

The council chairman led the Hisbah Islamic group and other security agencies into Ngalda town today (Saturday) and demolished over 140 rooms across 39 houses of Gala recreational houses, an alcohol base, in response to the rise in criminal activities brought on by the activities of alcohol bases and Gala joints in the town. This was done after the suspects were prosecuted.
