On Tuesday, October 3, in Akibo village, in the state's Obafemi Owode Local Government Area, Oyeleye allegedly assaulted his 65-year-old mother, Esther, following an unidentified quarrel.
When neighbors heard noise coming from the house, they went to investigate. When they arrived, they discovered Esther lying in a pool of blood with her left and right hands severed and her head stabbed deeply.
Oyeleye was claimed to have been seen by the neighbors wielding a sharp cutlass while standing next to his mother.
According to a witness who spoke to Punch, Oyeleye allegedly hurt the elderly woman's head and legs with the cutlass.
The informant said of his mother's two hands being severed: "With a sharp cutlass in his hand, he also severely injured her head and legs. According to the source, we have transported the mother to the hospital for treatment.
Omolola Odutola, the state police's public information officer, declared: "The suspect is presently in our possession. Our troops went to the location where the cutlass that was used to commit the crime was found. There is an investigation going on right now.
