President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's attorney, Wole Afolabi, claims that the error on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's certificate, which reads "F" for a female, was caused by a mix-up at Chicago State University.
This was said by Afolabi in an interview for Politics Today on Channels TV.
Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party's presidential candidate in the election of February 25, is contesting Tinubu's victory. He filed a lawsuit in this regard at the District Court of Northern Illinois in the United States, and this court recently ordered the release of Tinubu's academic records to him.
However, when questioned about the "F" on the President's certificate, Afolabi responded, "The transcript provided by Southwest College indicated F. It was evident. The rest of the material matched what President Bola Tinubu had said. The registrar was now questioned to find out the cause of the errors. According to him, the applicant for the school checked the box for a male rather than a girl, and Mr. Tinubu received the acceptance letter.
Dr. West Brown responded that it is common for universities to mess things up when the question was asked to him. West Brown has attended a number of colleges. It's feasible.
Regarding the anomalies on the certificate's signatures, Afolabi claimed that certificates weren't given out at graduation; instead, graduates had to apply for them.
He continued by saying that it's possible the individual who signed the certificate Tinubu submitted to INEC was not enrolled in the institution in 1979.
In response, Segun Sowunmi, a former Atiku spokesperson, claimed they were unsure if Tinubu attended Chicago State University.
"We have it on file that they are scurrying around and cannot be the owners of the certificate stating that he is female. On that certificate, there is a security number connected to a female name. How can we determine whether he attended the school?
