This was revealed to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Minna on Saturday by Alhaji Salihu Garba, the Managing Director-General of the Niger Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA).
He said that the event happened on Friday at around 6 p.m. when a mechanical malfunction caused the boat engine to catch fire, igniting a gallon of gasoline that was kept inside the boat.
He stated that there were 145 people on board and added that they were from the Kogi town of Danbo.
Garba revealed that the event happened as the people were returning from Katcha market.
He stated that while the search for the body of the second missing child was still ongoing, one of the deceased children's bodies had been found.
