Turkey's Minister and Air Force Chief will expedite the delivery of attack helicopters
Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, the Chief of Staff (CAS), and Minister of Defense (MOD), Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, are now in Turkiye to expedite the delivery of the T-129 ATAK helicopters that the Federal Government purchased for the Nigerian Air Force (NAF).

Air Force HQ revealed that the MOD had discussions on important bilateral and defense cooperation topics with his Turkish counterpart, Lieutenant General Yasar Guler (Rtd), as part of the programs scheduled for the visit.

"General Guler promised the HMOD of every support required from the Turkish military and defense companies to further strengthen and accelerate the defeat of terrorism and other criminal challenges facing Nigeria," said Air Force spokesman Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet.

Additionally, a few chosen Turkish businesses were visited by the Minister and the CAS, including Turkish Aerospace Industries, MKE, Aselsan, and Roketsan. These businesses are among the top-ranked international defense firms in the world, known for producing high-caliber military and defense gear. During his tenure at these firms, the Head of Department advocated for enhanced collaboration between the companies and Nigeria by transferring defense technology to Nigeria.

Recall that two of the six T-129 ATAK helicopters that the Federal Government purchased from Turkish Aerospace Industry are scheduled to be delivered to the NAF in the upcoming weeks. We anticipate receiving the remaining helicopters by the end of 2024's second quarter.
