Travis Adkins, CEO of the U.S. African Development Foundation, visited Nigeria
Travis Adkins, the President and CEO of the U.S. African Development Foundation (USADF), is scheduled to embark on a trip to Nigeria from October 16th to October 20th. The visit of the individual in question comes in the wake of the recent journeys undertaken by Wally Adeyemo, the Deputy Secretary of the U.S. Treasury, in September, and Marisa Lago, the Under Secretary of Commerce for International Trade, during the Global Diversity Export Initiative Trade Mission in August.

The visit of USADF P/CEO Adkins highlights the dedication of the Biden-Harris Administration, as previously indicated during the U.S.-Africa Leaders' Summit, to enhancing economic involvement and fostering trade and investment connections with the African continent.

The United States African Development Foundation (USADF) is an autonomous agency of the United States government that was created by the legislative branch with the purpose of making direct investments in African grassroots firms and individuals engaged in social entrepreneurship. The investments made by the United States African Development Foundation (USADF) serve to enhance individuals' incomes, revenues, and employment opportunities through the promotion of self-sufficiency and market-driven approaches to addressing poverty.

The Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Adkins, will be involved in interactions with grantees of the United States African Development Foundation (USADF) within the agricultural value chain in Abuja. The purpose of this engagement is to get insights on the effectiveness of USADF's initiatives in addressing issues related to food insecurity, enhancing the livelihoods of rural farmers, and fostering the expansion of agricultural enterprises. Furthermore, he will engage in a meeting with Green Village Energy Projects Limited, an organization that has received a grant from the United States African Development Foundation (USADF). The purpose of this meeting is to deliberate on the support provided by the U.S. government towards the augmentation of energy production in marginalized communities, employing sustainable business models.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Lagos, Mr. Adkins, is scheduled to deliver a speech at the All-On/USADF Conference in Lagos. The primary focus of his remarks will be on strategies to enhance energy accessibility. Subsequently, he will embark on a visit to the project site of Sunhive Limited, an additional recipient of a grant from the United States African Development Foundation (USADF) that specializes in the field of renewable energy.

The President/Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Adkins, is scheduled to visit the Field of Skills and Dreams Academy. During the visit, he will have the opportunity to engage with individuals who have benefited from the Lagos State-USADF Employability Program. This program aims to strengthen and expand vocational training initiatives in order to equip the Nigerian workforce with the necessary skills to meet the demands of a rapidly changing job market. During a visit to Ady's Food Mart, a Lagos-based agro-processing venture established by a graduate of the U.S. Department of State's Academy for Women Entrepreneurs, the Principal/Chief Executive Officer, Adkins, will emphasize the importance of seed capital in facilitating the growth of women entrepreneurs' businesses.

In reference to his forthcoming visit, the President and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Adkins, highlighted that Nigeria hosts the United States African Development Foundation's most extensive country program. This program encompasses various fundamental areas of focus, including agriculture and food security, entrepreneurship for women and youth, vocational training and employment generation, access to renewable energy, and assistance for creative industries.

I am filled with enthusiasm as I prepare to commence my first journey to Nigeria in my official role as the President/CEO of the United States African Development Foundation (USADF). According to the P/CEO Adkins, Nigeria holds considerable importance on both the African and global platforms, and serves as a crucial ally to the U.S. government in the region.

We anticipate an active week of interactions with USADF grantees and partners, counterparts from the U.S. Embassy and Consulate, and officials representing the Government of Nigeria.
