President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has formally corresponded with the Senate, expressing his need for the confirmation of three supplementary nominations for cabinet positions.
As per an official release, the Senate has received the names of three ministerial nominees: Dr. Jamila Bio, Balarebe Abbas, and Olawale Olawande.
According to the statement, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has made a request to the Senate for the confirmation of the updated list of ministerial nominations, subsequent to the appointment of three additional nominees.
On Tuesday, President Tinubu conveyed a formal request to the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, through a written correspondence.
Tinubu additionally expressed his desire for the expeditious approval and confirmation of the nominees in the correspondence presented during the plenary session of the Upper Chamber of the National Assembly, as read by Akpabio.
On August 21, 2023, President Tinubu officially formed his cabinet by administering the oath of office to 45 Ministers in the State House in Abuja.
The Senate conducted a screening process for a total of 48 nominations.
Following the completion of the screening process, the Senate conducted a vote and subsequently confirmed a total of 45 nominations, thereby excluding three individuals from the final selection.
The three candidates who were nominated for the position were Nasir El-Rufai, the former Governor of Kaduna State, Stella Okotete, a Director at the Nigeria Export-Import (NEXIM) Bank representing Delta State, and Abubakar Sani Danladi from Taraba State.
