Tinubu directs the rapid development of technological and innovation hubs in all geopolitical regions.President Bola Tinubu has taken prompt and decisive measures to expedite the development of technology and innovation centers in all six geopolitical zones, with the aim of fostering economic diversity within the nation.


Yesterday, Uche Nnaji, the Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, made a statement during a visit to the technology and innovation center of the Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC) in Abuja.


During the tour, the Minister accompanied the Director General of the Council, Prof. Hussain Doko-Ibrahim, and was provided with a comprehensive overview of various pilot plants, including the sodium silicate pilot plant, castor oil and derivative pilot plant, soap noodles pilot plant, and pharmaceutical-grade talc pilot plant.


According to his statement, the establishment of innovation centers will guarantee the country's access to contemporary technologies, hence facilitating the country's ability to derive advantages from pioneering breakthroughs.


According to the minister, the creation of technology and innovation centers would facilitate the transformation of Nigeria's economy from one that relies on natural resources to one that is driven by information.


The individual stated, "In my capacity as the Honourable Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, I am delighted to observe the remarkable assortment of pilot plants established by the Council in order to showcase the conversion and commercial feasibility of Research and Development (R&D) results into industrial inputs and products." The pilot plants encompass a wide range of sectors and goods, including but not limited to paints, fertilizers, plastics, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, food processing, and personal protective equipment.


The aforementioned initiatives serve as evidence of the Council's dedication to advancing research, development, and innovation in Nigeria, in accordance with the Renewed Hope Agenda of the current administration, as instructed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.


It is widely acknowledged that the Federal Government, led by President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, has issued a directive in accordance with Presidential Executive Order No. 5, to expedite the establishment of Technology and Innovation Centers in all six geopolitical zones of Nigeria. The nationwide replication will provide broader access and utilization of these pioneering technologies across a larger population.


The minister provided additional clarification that the establishment of these centers will effectively address the fragmented method now employed in Nigeria's Research and Development endeavors.


These centers will create a collaborative platform for scientists at a national, regional (African), and international level, promoting the exchange of experiences, knowledge, and effective methodologies. Additionally, it will offer a forum for the exhibition and examination of research results, hence facilitating the possibilities for patenting and commercialization," he further stated.
