'Terrorist attack' allegedly occurred in Ankara, according to Turkey

According to the interior ministry, an incident categorized as a "terrorist attack" occurred in close proximity to the parliament of Turkey in Ankara on Sunday, resulting in injuries sustained by two police officers.


According to the ministry's statement, a pair of assailants came at approximately 9:30 am (0630 GMT) in a commercial vehicle at the entrance gate of the General Directorate of Security of the Ministry of the Interior. Subsequently, they proceeded to execute a bomb attack.


According to a statement released by the ministry on social media, it was reported that one of the individuals involved in the act of terrorism detonated an explosive device on himself, while the other was effectively incapacitated. The ministry further mentioned that two officers had minor injuries.


According to Turkish media reports, the district in question encompasses various ministries and the Turkish parliament, which was scheduled to resume its activities today with a speech delivered by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.


According to a report by NTV, there were reports of shooting in the district that had been roped off, with emergency personnel present at the scene.
