Taking office, the new NAHCON chairman promises to provide better service to pilgrims.
Jalal Ahmad Arabi, the recently appointed Ag Chairman/CEO of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), officially took office yesterday and vowed to tenaciously pursue the commission's vision and goal with the only objective of looking out for the interests of pilgrims.

He stressed that his appointment was not only a privilege but also a call to serve when he said this in his speech after being welcomed to the Hajj house.

The Chairman continued by saying that his objectives will be in keeping with the motto of Trust, Sacrifice, and Allah Knows Best (TSA), with the only purpose of enhancing the services provided to pilgrims.

"It was a privilege to be appointed. I am fortunate to be asked to serve Allah's guests, and I am well aware that I will receive both present and future rewards for doing so.

"I am aware that, like many organizations, we have a purpose and a vision that have been actively pursued in the past, but there is always opportunity for improvement in any endeavor.

"Of course, without influencing what we hope to accomplish through our vision and goal, I have three nouns that are so important and will undoubtedly form the tripod for all we do. My definition of what I mean when I say "TSA" differs greatly from what you may be familiar with.

Let's start with the letter T: trust. I'm sure most of us, if not all of us, are aware of the weight of duty and trust placed on every Muslim who is given the authority to carry that trust. Sacrifice is my 'S' word. Anyone who is given trust is aware that they must make sacrifices, and my A is Allah. Allah is all-knowing.

Former Chairman Zikrullah Kunle Hassan's representative, Nura Hassan Yakasai, earlier congratulated the appointment of the new chairman while also reminding him of the enormous and difficult challenges that lay ahead.

"We are pleased to announce your appointment. The outgoing chairman would have preferred to be here, but he was unable to do so for a variety of reasons. However, I think he'll be here in the afternoon or at the time he can meet you.

In addition, I just want to point out that you are joining or stepping into the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria at a crucial period, when all of the preparations for Hajj 2024 are either intended to start or have already started.

"Unfortunately, the period or time provided by the Saudi authority this time is different from the customary ones, where we have enough time to do or organize everything we desire. You sadly have a very limited amount of time. I can assure you that you have competent professionals on hand who can help you succeed, and it is our wish and prayer that you do," he said.

According to a statement by Musa Ubandawaki, Deputy Director, Information and Publication, the new chairman was joined by a number of notable individuals, including the former FCT Minister Dr. Aliyu Moddibo, the former Executive Chairman/CEO of NAHCON Abdullahi Muktar Muhammed, the former Commissioner for Policy, Personnel, Management and Finance Yusuf Adebayo Ibrahim, the Special Assistant to the President on Media Abdulaziz Abdulaziz,
