On Tuesday, October 24, 2023, while speaking to senior EFCC officials in Abuja at the Commission's corporate headquarters, he issued the directive.
Olukoyede emphasized that people at the forefront of the fight against corruption ought to be ethical.
"From level 17 on down, we're all going to declare our assets. There is no reason for anyone to be afraid to do what I did. Even the Commission Secretary did it, and you all may have as well, but we must all do it once more. We're going to disclose our assets and look into it. We must set the bar high by leading by good example. Our hands must be free of corruption, thus we must disclose our holdings, he stated.
He urged Commission staff to give fighting economic and financial crimes more priority, emphasizing that such efforts should be directed toward expanding the country's economy, establishing the proper conditions for increased investment, and bolstering the productive foundation of the economy.
"We need to do our part to improve the country's values. Investors must have faith in the economy, and we must work to ensure that the government is transparent and accountable. This will give us a fresh approach to restore the nation's reputation, he said.
Additionally, he commanded the Commission's staff to conduct themselves with professionalism, thoroughness, integrity, and objectivity.
"Please, I beseech you, let's clean our hands and organize our home. I may not be popular with everyone, but I'm going to act morally and treat everyone equally, regardless of their area, nationality, or religion. He promised greater benefits, better training, and fair opportunity for all employees in order to achieve higher productivity.
He issued a warning to people who were jeopardizing their work and positions, saying, "Dangerous consequences await every unsavoury tendency."
The head of the EFCC gave the Commission's workers the reassurance that upholding the law will be a core value and organizing concept.
"The law gave rise to the EFCC. In order to fulfill our obligations, we must follow the law's rules. We would make sure that it is our accepted norm as it is a common international practice, he said.
