Nwabueze, who was from Atani in the Ogbaru local government area of Anambra State, was said to have passed away on Sunday at the age of 92. His relatives verified his passing.
In a statement released on Monday by his spokesperson, Ajuri Ngelale, President Tinubu said that Nigeria has suffered a great loss with the passing of the eminent attorney Nwabueze.
It is noteworthy that Prof. B.O. Nwabueze contributed to the antecedents and tenets of the country's constitution. Together with his exceptional contributions to the legal profession overall, his role in the 1979 constitution's formulation is a legacy that makes him stand out, according to Tinubu.
In addition to pleading with God Almighty to grant the late Prof. Nwabueze's gentle soul eternal peace, Tinubu asked his family, the good people of Anambra State, and Nigerians as a whole to find comfort in the noble legacy he left behind.
Atiku claimed that the news of Nwabueze's passing came as a sudden shock because he and the late Professor had a revitalizing friendship.
"He had an avuncular mien and was a fine scholar who carried himself with excellence," the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate declared in the 2023 election.
"He was the Chairman of the Igbo Leaders of Thought, a position that further demonstrated his devotion to his people and the country as a whole," according to the statement.
He claimed that Professor Nwabueze has made a significant contribution to the expansion of constitutionalism not just in Nigeria but throughout the world by using his intellectual prowess.
Saying that the late Professor Ben Nwabueze was a kindred spirit makes Atiku very proud.
"I offer my condolences and admiration to his immediate family, the Ndi Igbo people, and the people and government of Anambra State for the loss of their patriarch and for bestowing upon the nation such a resourceful mind," he stated on behalf of his family and staff.
"May his sweet soul rest in eternal peace," is my prayer.
Professor Nwabueze was a lifelong defender of justice and democracy, according to Saraki, a former governor of the state of Kwara.
The late attorney, according to him, was a fearless defender of the rule of law and a fierce opponent of corruption, and the evolution of Nigerian constitutional law was greatly influenced by his works.
"My family and I are mourning the loss of Professor Nwabueze today, along with the rest of the country. We will all be motivated to work toward a more just and equitable society by his legacy, according to Saraki.
"I send my sincere condolences to the Igbo nation, the legal community, and the family he left behind."
