The security services, namely the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), arrived at the party secretariat promptly at 6:00 am.
The secretariat was secured by the placement of barricades consisting of a minimum of 13 patrol vehicles and one armoured personnel carrier (APC). These measures were accompanied by the presence of security personnel stationed at the entrance of the secretariat, projecting a severe demeanor.
The party's young faction had pledged to demonstrate over the governor's extended absence from the state.
As per the testimonies of the young individuals who were impeded from reaching the secretariat, it has been seen that a dearth of leadership has emerged within the state, with no discernible individual assuming the responsibility of guiding its affairs.
As stated by Tayo Oluyi, a prominent figure within the party's youth wing, the primary objective of the demonstration was to raise awareness to the governor's alleged carelessness and its adverse consequences on the state.
In the present scenario, the assertive involvement of security services has incited strong discontent among the inhabitants of the urban area, asserting that the infringement against democratic entitlements pertaining to peaceful assembly and freedom of speech has occurred.
Nevertheless, the party has accused Akeredolu and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of arranging the intervention of security forces in order to stifle opposition and hinder their members from expressing their complaints.
