The arrest of Linus has been verified by DSP Bright Edafe, the spokesperson for the Delta State Police. Additionally, the public has been cautioned against resorting to vigilante justice as a method of punishing wrongdoers or criminals.
According to Edafe's statement on X (formerly known as Twitter), on Sunday, 8th October 2023, at DBS Road Asaba, an individual named Ebube Linus, who is 18 years old, allegedly created a deceptive disturbance by claiming that an elderly woman inside a tricycle had made physical contact with him, resulting in the disappearance of his genitalia.
More than one hundred individuals who were misinformed assembled and engaged in a violent act against this woman, forcibly removing her clothing and subjecting her to severe physical assault, resulting in a state of extreme disorientation and near-fatal injuries.
The local law enforcement agency, known as the Command, was notified and promptly responded to the incident. The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of the GRA division in Asaba led a team of officers to the location, successfully rescuing the woman in distress. Subsequently, the suspect was apprehended. Upon further investigation, it was determined that the suspect did not exhibit any physical harm, as his genitalia were intact.
Edafe asserted that Linus made false statements against an underprivileged lady who fulfills the roles of a mother, daughter, and wife. Consequently, a distressing video depicting her being subjected to physical assault and public humiliation has been widely disseminated on the internet.

The individual further stated that law enforcement authorities are actively pursuing individuals depicted in the video for the purpose of apprehending and subsequently initiating legal proceedings against them. This is in addition to Linus, who is now considered the primary suspect.
