On the application of the transnational education system, Britain and Nigeria are friends.
Yesterday, the British Council Nigeria, in collaboration with the Nigerian Universities Commission (NUC), conducted a one-day Insights & Engagement Workshop in Abuja. The workshop focused on the examination of international best practices and case studies pertaining to the implementation of TransNational Education (TNE) within the Nigerian University System.

Chikodi Onyemerela, the Director of Programmes at the British Council in Nigeria, expressed that the objective of the program is to facilitate collaboration among various stakeholders in order to critically examine the notion of transnational education partnerships. The aim is to develop strategies for effectively implementing best practices in transnational education (TNE) within Nigeria, with the ultimate goal of enhancing the sector's growth and development.

According to his statement, the Transnational Education (TNE) initiative aims to enhance the Nigerian university system by fostering collaboration with the UK university system. The primary goal of this collaboration is to improve the quality of education, pedagogy, research collaboration, and other aspects of the university system. Ultimately, the purpose is to enhance student outcomes and overall performance within the university system.

The current state of competition has transitioned from being localized to becoming globalized, and this shift is also reflected in the availability of options. It is imperative for universities worldwide, including those in Nigeria, to align their research methodologies, curricula, and other activities with international standards.

Chris Maiyaki, the Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission (NUC), noted that the Nigerian university system has seen significant changes over time, with a particular emphasis on the introduction of transnational education as a notable innovative program.Within the nation

Due to the influence of globalization and the expectation for universities to exhibit international characteristics, our university system has recently established guidelines regarding transnational education. These guidelines allow foreign universities the freedom and opportunity to actively participate in expanding access to university education.

In elaborating on the framework, Tanko Ishaya, a Professor of Computer Science and Vice Chancellor of the University of Jos, expressed that from an academic standpoint, the introduction of this transnational education framework is considered highly opportune. He noted that in previous years, there was a desire to delve into this framework, but Nigeria was not adequately prepared to embrace it. However, he expressed satisfaction that the current circumstances have made it feasible to pursue this avenue.

We express our satisfaction with the NUC's introduction of many models for transnational education, which Nigerians can actively engage with.

Professor Fatima Mukhtar, the Vice Chancellor of Azman University in Kano, expressed that Azman University is aligning itself with the transnational education framework as it begins the process of admitting students.

The implementation of this initiative would greatly contribute to the advancement of Nigerian universities. As a newly established institution, our university offers specialized programs, such as aviation, which are currently unavailable in other Nigerian universities. We take pride in pioneering these unique programs.

Additionally, our institution offers a program focused on artificial intelligence, as well as several programs within the field of allied health services that are not often available in other institutions. Due to the limited availability of qualified faculty to teach these courses, we propose establishing collaborations with universities in the United Kingdom to address this issue.

The upcoming meeting is anticipated to offer valuable insights into the current best practices of TransNational Education (TNE) among comparable contexts.
