The Ogun State Government has issued a warning to owners of marked homes that are impeding the free flow of water and trash to either remove them willingly or pay for the state to demolish them at a cost to the owners.When he led the state's team on flood mitigation and control to examine the impact of urban flooding in the Ikenne Council of the state yesterday, Mr. Ola Oresanya, commissioner for environment, issued the warning. He said the step became imperative to avert unnecessary flooding.
He claims that owners of marked buildings who have received adequate notice and a deadline but are still waiting for the state government to take their property away would be required to reimburse the state for utilizing taxpayer funds for the demolition effort.
So, in order to avoid punishment, he gave the necessary instructions to everyone involved as soon as feasible.
In addition to the state government's efforts to build and maintain primary and secondary trunks, Oresanya instructed home owners in the state to channel their waste waters properly by building and maintaining tertiary drains in front of their homes or provide proof of wastewater retention tanks in order to avoid sanctions.
Any home owner who disobeys these instructions by letting their waste water to run into the roadways will be fined because the state and local authorities won't watch them route their waste water directly onto the road, ruining the road infrastructure.
The state government has revealed intentions to create ministries for energy, digital economy, and information and communication technology.
During a meeting with permanent secretaries in the Executive Chambers of the Governor's Office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, Governor Dapo Abiodun revealed this.
"We decided to establish these new ministries because those areas are now going to be areas of focus for us, and we believe that in order for us to achieve the goals we have set in those areas, it is important for them to become full-fledged ministries and have all the administrative support they need to do so.
