Abdur-Rahman Balogun, the NiDCOM Abuja spokesperson, stated this in a statement on Monday.
The deceased's hands were bound, his mouth was covered, and he was beaten to death, according to An X user @michaelojuola, who stated this on his handle on Sunday.
The user then requested help from NiDCOM and other crucial agencies.
The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) responded to the incident by posting on their X handle: "The attention of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) has been drawn to a viral social media news item on the death of a Nigerian student named Ikem who was allegedly murdered by a group of Chinese in the Republic of Philippines.
NIDCOM has requested more information from the "eyewitness" who uploaded the graphic incident on his social media account, even though the situation hasn't been formally reported to the Nigerian embassy in the Philippines. The "eyewitness" should contact the Commission by email at admin@nidcom.gov.ng.
"The Commission will launch the machinery to look into the situation and determine what exactly happened,"
