According to information obtained by The Guardian, the Marine Police Station (Cable Point Asaba) officer was assassinated before his wife and three children, who were present at the time.
Austin Onori, the deceased's older brother, claimed that Inspector Onori was traveling with his family to church in Okpanam, close to Asaba, when a commercial motorcycle rider who was allegedly of northern descent struck his vehicle at the rear.
He claimed that as his deceased brother was ready to properly park to investigate what actually occurred, more than 20 commercial motorcycles suddenly attacked him with sticks and other dangerous objects.
The dead went back to his car and made a U-turn, according to the deceased's older brother.
"And the Okada riders chased him as he fled in fear for his life. When he arrived at Marble Hill Okpanam, he took a different route to the express, hoping that his pursuers would lose heart and turn back.
As the petrol in his car ran out on the Ogwashi Uku Community to Kwale expressway, they pursued him all the way to Ogwashi-Uku Community.
His pursuers were more than 50 at that point. Then, in front of his wife and three kids, they lynched him to death.
"They also wrecked his car. Before he was officially pronounced dead, the wife claims that a bystander carried him to the Ogwashi-Uku police station. His corpses have been placed in the mortuary as I speak," he stated.
Bright Edafe, the command's spokeswoman, said he had not yet received an official report on the incident when he was approached.
Meanwhile, the police in Delta State paraded three suspected kidnappers yesterday, including Ese-Oghene Ezekiel, who planned the murder of his brother's wife, Regina Ogana, and the kidnapping of his brother and members of his household in the Oha town of the state's Okpe Local Council.
Bright Edafe, the command's spokesperson, identified the suspects as James Aboyo,'m', 21, Solomon Gbolode,'m,' and Blessing Deco,'m,' both of whom are 22 years old, while bringing them before the police at the Asaba Police headquarters.
Edafe claimed that because of their role in the event, the Police Anti-Crime Patrol squad detained them at the Ofuoma community in the Ughelli North Local Council.
"Our quick policing interventions have dealt a huge blow to kidnapping as a crime of concern in the state," he said.
They were taken into custody on October 13 at around 2:23 a.m. after a lengthy and arduous investigation procedure, assisted by technologically generated intelligence by men from the Anti-Crime Patrol squad, Divisional Police Station, Oreorokpe.
Following their detention, the team carried out a search of the location and the hiding place. When they arrived at the hiding place, Blessing Deco,'m', 22, was apprehended while other gang members, who had obviously noticed the incoming police team, took to their heels.
The suspects, who had admitted to their involvement in the crimes and other kidnapping cases in the state, are currently in custody and helping police with their investigation while a manhunt is being conducted for the other gang members who have fled.
