Military ready for election in off-season, according to CDS
The Nigerian Armed Forces declared on Tuesday that they are prepared to guarantee a peaceful election in Kogi, Imo, and Bayelsa next month.

General Christopher Musa, the Chief of Defence Staff, issued a warning to political figures warning them to avoid using violence or face the wrath of the military.

Today, Musa addressed the military high command during the first official visit of the ministers of defense, Alhaji Badaru and Bello Mattawale.

He said, "We are ready for the elections that will take place in the three states of Imo, Kogi, and Bayelsa. I want to make sure that the elections are conducted democratically and free from intimidation or fear.

"Violence is not what we want. I want to make the case to all parties involved that it serves no purpose if someone is killed in order for us to cast our votes. Therefore, it's critical that we all pitch in. We'll make sure the elections are fair and orderly so that the outcomes reflect what the electorate desires.

The military's high command also recommended the federal government to better fund the military, modernize it, and add more quarters for commanders and soldiers.

He praised the minister for his leadership since taking office and vowed the AFN's allegiance to the law and the president.

"You hit the ground running since you came in," he said. We are aware that the sub-region where we have experienced numerous coups has experienced a number of problems. But we vouch for our allegiance to the president and the constitution.

"Our minister, thank you for your dedication and for coming to see us.The AFN completely supports the president and upholds the constitution.

He pleaded on the federal government to prioritize the military's needs for modernization of the armed forces, care for injured soldiers, overseas training, better funding, and difficulties relating to personnel and officer housing and training.

He stated that the AFN's overwhelming firepower has so far resulted in the surrender of more than 140,000 terrorists.

Alhaji Badaru, the minister, responded, "You are doing extremely well. The president is aware of the violence you used against these criminals. We applaud you for your efforts to raise soldier morale. The president will undoubtedly fulfill all of your desires. I will make him aware.
