Mohammed, who was indicted as a result of a military Police investigation and subsequently recommended for trial, had his bail request denied by the court. This decision was made due to the substantial sum of money that was purportedly stolen by the officer, with the court expressing concerns that granting bail could potentially incentivize him to flee.

The legal defense of Army General Mohammed, who stands accused, is being undertaken by a legal team consisting of two Senior Advocates of Nigeria and six lawyers, one of whom is a retired military commander.
