Methodist Church commemorates its 70th birthday
The Methodist Church Nigeria, located at the Cathedral of Blessing on Palm Avenue in Mushin, Lagos, is about to commemorate 70 years of church history.

The church's 70th anniversary team made this announcement in a statement that The Guardian was given access to.

"A one-week line-up full of various exciting and spiritually filled activities has been put in place, starting from Saturday October 28 to Sunday November 5, 2023," the statement continues, "to celebrate the glory of God on its Church and the members as a whole."

The event will include an awareness rally near the church, according to the statement. At the Cathedral, a three-day revival will begin with the rally.

As part of the church's Corporate Social Responsibilities, visits to a few older members and residences with less affluence will come after this. In keeping with the spirit of giving back to the community, the cathedral has announced that on Friday, November 3, free medical outreach will be provided to anyone who visits. The same day, Sir Gbolahan Obayomi will deliver an anniversary lecture with the theme "Methodism Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow."

Remembrance and an Awards Service are among the other events scheduled. The principal host of the event, Bishop Rt. Rev. Ezekiel Akande of the Lagos West Diocese, claims that the cathedral has experienced spiritual growth and expansion.
